facing life's challenges together

Who we are

We are a small team of passionate people who have lived experience of some of the hard things in life. We could add labels to that, but we prefer you talk to us first so you can find out who we really are as individuals with our own stories to share. We have a collective history of over 200 years between us. It’s ok to ask questions of us, we would simply like you to meet us first.

We want to see people enjoy more of life and we want to help reduce the loneliness and fear we see all around us. We want to do this by connecting people to others who have ‘been there, done that, and worn the t-shirt’. We want to help people build their confidence and find a real sense of belonging by connecting them to groups and organisations where they can safely explore new experiences, learn new skills, find new interests and, for some, hopefully make some new friendships.

What we do

We bring people who are struggling together with other people and organisations who understand those struggles and can share their own experiences and tips for living with more joy and satisfaction.

Our starting point is to connect our experienced peer mentors (aka the aforementioned people who have ‘been there, done that & worn the t-shirt’) with people who want to join in with life on their own terms, but who aren’t quite sure where to start or don’t have the confidence to go it alone, at least for now.

When connected with a peer mentor, participants/mentees will be offered a range of options, including:

  • 1-1 mentor support for everyday tasks
  • peer group information & education sessions
  • community based experiences & activities
  • apprenticeship training to become a peer mentor to others

From time to time, we will host public community events to encourage others to come along and see the supports and services that are available in local communities. We will invite groups and organisations who provide mental health support to come along and showcase what they do.

What We Believe

We believe that everyone is unique and deserves time, patience, acceptance, understanding, compassion and respect, regardless of their background, beliefs or identity.

We believe people are the best experts on themselves and everyone can flourish on their own terms when given access to the right information, guidance and support.

We believe people do better together, in or alongside safe relationships.

We believe that humour and imagination can be used well to encourage a lightness in life.

We believe that our human brains and nervous systems store all the solutions for living fuller, more satisfying lives.

Meet the team

We are a small team, motivated by our own struggles in life, personal and professional, who want to help others create or renew their own sense of purpose and belonging in life.

  • Michelle – ‘chief delegator, working out what she can do while keeping an eye on everyone else’
  • Geoff – ‘quotes & wind-up guy’
  • Craig – ‘roll your eyes IT & password guy’
  • Yvette – ‘take a note & keep everyone on their toes girl’

AND several faithful supporters in the background, remaining anonymous for now, but fully invested & with a wealth of personal & professional experience.

How we will make it happen

We are applying for grants and funding to help us establish a robust training programme for mentors, recruit mentees and deliver a programme of events with partner organisations throughout the coming year.

We are also asking local business leaders and elected representatives to support us in fundraising activities and in spreading the word about what we offer.
